On the petition of former Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Madras High Court had sentenced retired IPS officer G Sampat Kumar to 15 days imprisonment in December last year. Now the Supreme Court on Monday (5 February) has put a stay on that decision of the Madras High Court.
A bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan also issued notice on the petition filed by IPS officer Sampat Kumar, staying the High Court order. The next hearing of the case will be on March 8. In the year 2022, Dhoni had filed a contempt case (concept of court case) against IPS officer G Sampat Kumar for allegedly making derogatory remarks on the High Court and the Supreme Court.
