In the last three days, 54 people have died and about 400 are hospitalized in Ballia district hospital in Uttar Pradesh amid rising temperature. Doctors have said that though there are different reasons for the deaths, the extreme heat could also be a factor. He said that due to the scorching heat, the number of people admitted to the hospital is increasing. Severe heatwave is going on in Uttar Pradesh, most places are seeing temperature north of 40 degrees. There is a sudden increase in deaths and patients are being admitted to hospitals with fever, shortness of breath and other complications. In such a situation, the hospital administration is in action mode and the employees are alert to face difficult situations. Medical Superintendent in charge of District Hospital Ballia, SK Yadav said that 23 patients died on June 15, 20 the next day and 11 yesterday.
Additional Health Director of Azamgarh Circle, Dr. BP Tiwari told that a team is coming from Lucknow to check whether there is any such disease, which is not being detected. Respiratory patients, diabetes patients and blood pressure patients are at increased risk due to excessive heat or cold. Dr. Tiwari speculated that he might have died due to a slight rise in mercury.
The district hospital is so overcrowded that patients are unable to even get stretchers and many attendants are carrying their patients on their shoulders to the emergency ward. However, the Additional Health Director has claimed that it becomes difficult if ten patients come together, but they have stretchers.
The CMO said that these people were admitted to the district hospital in critical condition and all of them died during treatment and investigation. He said that it is difficult for the elderly to tolerate the heat.
Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of the District Hospital, Diwakar Singh had said on Friday that in view of the scorching heat, fans, coolers and ACs have been arranged in the district hospital to protect the patients and staff from the danger of heat stroke. He told that the number of doctors and para medical personnel has been increased.
CMS has advised people not to go out in summer, especially in the sun if it is not necessary, avoid exposure to heat and sun while going out, and drink plenty of water/beverages. Do it. He said that to prevent heat stroke, use umbrella, sunglasses and scarf/scarf etc.
