A 14-year-old boy reportedly died in the Maldives on Saturday (January 20) after President Mohammed Muizzu asked him to use the Dornier aircraft provided by India to airlift him, India Today reported, quoting Maldivian media reports. Was refused to give approval.
No approval for use of Dornier aircraft
The boy for whom the President did not approve the use of Dornier aircraft in Maldives. That boy had a brain tumor. Because of this he suddenly had a stroke. In such a situation his health started deteriorating. As his condition became critical, his family requested an air ambulance to take him from his home in Gaff Alif Vilingili to the capital city Male.
Maldives media Adhaadhoo quoted the boy’s father as saying that we called Island Aviation to take him to Male immediately after the stroke. Despite this he did not respond to our calls. He answered the phone at 8:30 am on Thursday. Whereas they know that in such a critical situation, air ambulance is the biggest support for any critical patient.
The boy was brought to Male after 16 hours
The boy was brought to Male 16 hours after the child’s family requested. However, due to the delay the child’s condition became very serious. Meanwhile, Aasandha Company Limited, which received the emergency request, gave a statement. He said that the evacuation process was started immediately after the request, but unfortunately the diversion was not done at the last moment due to a technical problem in the flight. Commenting on the boy’s death, Maldives MP Mikael Naseem said, “People should not pay the price by giving their lives to satisfy the President’s hostility towards India.”
