NDTV India publishes the report via syndicate feed that Income Tax Department officials carried out coordinated raids here on Friday at premises linked to Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V Senthil Balaji. Police sources gave this information. The sources, without giving details of the case and said that the premises of persons allegedly associated with the minister are being raided in several cities including Karur and Coimbatore.
It is told that the officials of the Income Tax Department are raiding the houses of close relatives of the minister and some contractors. Balaji, a senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader from Karur, also holds the charge of the Excise Department.
