The AAP government of Delhi has reached the Supreme Court challenging the central government’s ordinance on transfer posting of officers. The Delhi government said on Friday that the central government’s ordinance is unconstitutional. In the petition filed in the Supreme Court, the AAP government said that the central government’s ordinance should be banned immediately.
Last month, the central government issued an ordinance with the aim of setting up the National Capital Public Service Authority for the transfer of Group-A officers in Delhi and for disciplinary action against them. Which Arvind Kejriwal’s government is opposing.
A few days before the promulgation of this ordinance, the Supreme Court had handed over the control of police, law and order and all other services in Delhi to the Delhi government. The Aam Aadmi Party alleged that the central government is not even following the order of the Supreme Court and this ordinance is unconstitutional.
AAP’s national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has also met leaders of several opposition parties for support on this issue. Many opposition leaders including Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin have spoken of supporting AAP.
