Haryana-Punjab High Court strict regarding highway jam due to farmers’ movement

People should not gather in large numbers, tractor-trolleys should not come on the highway, Punjab-Haryana High Court showed strictness on the farmers’ movement.

Citing the Motor Vehicle Act, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has told the farmers that “you cannot take a tractor-trolley on the highway.”

Commenting on farmers marching to Delhi in large numbers with tractor-trolleys, the court said, “You are trying to travel from Amritsar to Delhi on trolleys. Every citizen knows his fundamental rights, but there are also some constitutional duties which It is necessary to follow.” The Punjab and Haryana High Court has told the Punjab government that it will have to ensure that people do not gather anywhere in large numbers. The court said that farmers have the right to protest but it is subject to appropriate restrictions. The court has currently adjourned the hearing till next week.
