Former Governor of Uttarakhand Aziz Qureshi passes away in Bhopal

Aziz Qureshi, who was the governor of three states including Uttar Pradesh and senior Congress leader, died on Friday in the capital Bhopal. He was ill for a long time. When his health deteriorated, he was admitted to a private hospital, where he breathed his last at the age of 83. This information was given by his nephew Sufiana Ali through social media. There is mourning in political circles due to the news of his demise. The Chief Minister has expressed grief over his demise.

Regarding former Governor Qureshi, Sufiyan Ali said that his health was not well for some time and he breathed his last at around 11 am in a private hospital in Bhopal. Today itself, his funeral prayers will be offered at Sufia Masjid at 8.30 pm after Isha prayers. He will be laid to rest in Bada Bagh cemetery behind Paliwal Hospital, Bhopal.

Political journey

Born on April 24, 1941 in Bhopal, Aziz Qureshi was the Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Congress Election Committee, a founding member of the Indian Youth Congress and a minister in various departments of the Madhya Pradesh Government in 1973. He served as the Governor of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Mizoram. He was appointed the President of MP Urdu Academy by the then Kamal Nath government of Madhya Pradesh on January 24, 2020. He has also been a cabinet minister in Madhya Pradesh in 1973 and won the 1984 Lok Sabha elections from Satna constituency of Madhya Pradesh.

MP Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has expressed condolence on the demise of former Governor Aziz Qureshi through social media. While paying tribute to the late Qureshi, he prayed for peace of his soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this grief. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and former minister PC Sharma said through social media that the party’s Expressing grief over the demise of senior leader and former Governor Aziz Qureshi, he has expressed deep condolences.
