Ayodhya: Names of big personalities in the purchase of land in Ayodhya

Ramnagari Ayodhya has been a topic of discussion since the inauguration of Ram temple. Land purchases are increasing in this religious city of Uttar Pradesh. From big celebrities to officials and leaders, everyone has bought land here. After the construction of Ram temple, work is going on to develop Ayodhya as a major religious tourism hub. Because of this, huge investments are being made here.

The Indian Express has reported that Ayodhya has become a prime real estate location. Land registrations in Ayodhya from the Supreme Court’s decision in November 2019 to March 2024 show that the number of land transactions in at least 25 villages of Ramnagari and the surrounding districts of Gonda and Basti has increased by 30 percent. Many of these deals have been done by family members of politicians and officials or people associated with them.

Ayodhya is also in the news these days because Samajwadi Party’s Awadhesh Prasad has won here in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. Even though SP has won the election, some other game is going on on the ground. In such a situation, let us know who are those leaders and officials whose relatives and close ones have bought land in Ayodhya.

Relatives of which prominent leaders and officials bought land in Ayodhya?

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy CM Chowna Mein: Deputy CM’s sons Chow Kan Seng Mein and Aditya Mein bought 3.99 hectares of land for Rs 3.72 crore in September 2022 and September 2023. Out of this, 0.768 hectares of land was also sold for Rs 98 lakh in April last year.

Brijbhushan Sharan Singh: Karan Bhushan’s son Brijbhushan Singh’s former BJP MP Nandini Infrastructure bought 0.97 hectares of land for Rs 1.15 crore in January 2023 in Maheshpur (Gonda), 8 km away from the Ram temple. DGP Amitabh Yash (IPS): Additional DGP’s mother Geeta Singh bought 9.955 hectares of agricultural land between February 2022 and February 2024. Its cost was Rs 4.04 crore. Out of this, 0.505 hectares of land was also sold for Rs 20 lakh.

UP Home Department Secretary Sanjeev Gupta (IPS): His wife Dr. Chetna Gupta bought 253 square meters of residential land in Banveerpur (Ayodhya), 14 km from the temple, for Rs 35.92 lakh on August 5, 2022. Sanjeev Gupta said that the land has now been sold.

Arvind Kumar Pandey, Joint Director, UP Education Department: Arvind and his wife Mamta bought 1,051 square meters of residential land in Shahnawaz Pur Majha (Ayodhya), 7 km from the temple, for Rs 64.57 lakh between June and August 2023. Pandey, who is facing corruption charges, is currently suspended.

Railway Deputy Chief Engineer Mahabal Prasad: The deputy chief engineer’s son Anshul jointly bought 0.304 hectares of agricultural land for Rs 24 lakh in November 2023, 7 km from the temple, with another person. Regarding this, Prasad said, “This is an undeveloped area, nothing has been planned yet.”

Additional SP (Aligarh) Palash Bansal (IPS): Palash Bansal’s father Deshraj Bansal, in April 2021, jointly with Ishwar Bansal of Delhi, purchased 1781.03 sq m residential land in Rajepur Uparhar (Ayodhya), 15 km from the temple, for Rs 67.68 lakh.

SP (Amethi) Anoop Kumar Singh (IPS): Anoop Kumar’s relatives Shailendra Singh and Manju Singh jointly purchased 4 hectares agricultural land in Durgaganj (Gonda), 9 km from the temple, for Rs 20 lakh on September 21, 2023. Anoop said that he has nothing to do with the purchase of this land.

Former UP DGP Yashpal Singh (retired IPS): Yashpal Singh purchased 0.427 hectares of agricultural land and 132.7137 sq m of residential land in Banveerpur (Ayodhya), 14 km from the temple, for Rs 73 lakh between December 2020 and September 2023.

Principal Chief Personnel Officer (North Central Railway) Anurag Tripathi: Anurag’s father Madan Mohan Tripathi bought 1.57 hectares of agricultural land and 640 square meters of residential land for Rs 2.33 crore. Last year, he signed an agreement to transfer 1.2324 hectares of land to Vidya Gurukulam Educational Trust for Rs 3.98 crore, of which he is the secretary.

These people also bought land in Ayodhya

Haryana Yoga Commission Chairman Jaideep Arya, BJP MLA Ajay Singh’s brother Krishna Kumar Singh and his nephew Siddharth, BJP leader and Gosainganj Nagar Panchayat President Vijay Laxmi Jaiswal’s relative Madan Jaiswal, BJP leader and Amethi District Panchayat President Rajesh Agrahari have also bought land in Ayodhya.

Vinod Singh, brother of former BSP MLA Jitendra Kumar, former BJP MLC Chandra Prakash Shukla, former SP MLC Rakesh Rana’s son Rishabh and former BSP MLC Shyam Narayan Singh’s daughter Pramila Singh have also bought and sold land in Ramnagari.
