1,052 Deaths due to Heart attack in last six months in Gujarat, 80 percent in 11-25 age group

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Education Minister Kuber Dindor said on Friday that a total of 1,052 people have lost their lives due to heart attacks in the state during the last six months. Of these, 80 percent were in the age group of 11 to 25. Dindor said that in view of the cases of heart attack, about two lakh school teachers and college professors will be given training in ‘Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation’ (CPR).
Kuber Dindor told reporters in Gandhinagar, “1,052 people have died due to heart attacks in the last six months in Gujarat. About 80 percent of these were in the age group of 11 to 25 years and there was no complaint of obesity among these students and youth. The 108 ambulance service receives an average of 173 calls per day related to heart disease.

He said that under the new initiative of the State Education Department, camps will be organized in 37 medical colleges between December 3 to 17 to provide training in CPR to about two lakh school and college teachers.

Dindor said that about 2,500 medical experts and doctors will be present in these training camps and certificates will also be given to the participants.
