Two pilgrims died on Saturday (July 22) during the Amarnath Yatra climb, taking the death toll during this year’s pilgrimage in the South Kashmir Himalayas to 36.

The two yatris who died on Saturday have been identified as Fateh Lal Manaria (died at the holy cave) and Mangi Lal (died at Baltal base camp). Officials told that his age was about 60 years. Both the pilgrims were from Rajasthan.

On Friday (July 21), the number of pilgrims crossed three lakhs. According to the information, so far 3,07,354 pilgrims have performed the Amarnath Yatra, while 13,797 pilgrims visited the holy cave on Friday (July 21) despite bad weather.

What is the reason behind the loss of life?
The Shrine Board issues regular medical guidelines for pilgrims and others involved in providing various services during the yatra but some people succumb to natural causes. A common reason behind the deaths during the journey is also being said to be low oxygen at high altitude.
