Know About FIPIC Summit 2023: India Co-Chairs, PM Modi Emphasizes on ‘One Earth One Family’ Motto

14 countries will be attending the 2023 FIPIC Summit. India Co-Chairs the summit. The summit opens a unique opportunity for collaboration and dialogue on geographical and connectivity challenges. Summit is seen to strengthen the ties between India and the Pacific region.

What is FIPIC Summit?
The summit focuses on the areas, such as trade, investment, climate change, and sustainable development. The 14 Pacific Island nations’ group was established in 2014 for cooperation. The 14 counties with India in the group include: Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

PM Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the Pacific nation. On Sunday, PM Modi received exceptional and ceremonial welcome from the host country, Papua New Guinea. In his address, PM Modi in Papua New Guinea on Monday called Millet a “superfood”. He expressed to prioritize on food security. On his address on climate change, Modi emphasizes upon ‘One Earth One Family.’  and mentions the climate change is one of the biggest challenges in front of the world. “We believe in multilateralism and support a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific”, states PM Modi. The Prime Minister, Modi also pinpoints to say, “Today we are seeing disruption in the supply chain of fuel, food, fertilizer and pharma. Those whom we trusted didn’t stand with us when needed.”

A book on translation of the Tamil classic “Thirukkural” was launched by PM Modi along with his Papua New Guinea counterpart James Marap. The Tamil Classics has been translated in the Tok Pisin language of the island country. Subha Sasindran and Governor Sasindran Muthuvel of West New Britain Province co-authored the book.

Ministry of External Affairs stated on the launch, “Indian diaspora keeping alive connect with the motherland … the book brings Indian thought and culture closer to the people of Papua New Guinea.” PM Modi tweets, “I had the honour of releasing the Thirukkural in Tok Pisin language. Thirukkural is an iconic work, which provides valuable insights across different subjects.”

After the Papua New Guinea visit, PM Modi will visit Australia to strengthen the cultural ties between the two nations. Highlighting the invaluable contributions of India to Australian society, the Harris Park area in Parramatta, Sydney, will be officially designated as “Little India”. It is seen as a symbol of sound connections and mutual respect between the two countries, India and Australia.
