Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan convicted in hate speech case, sentenced to two years

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has got a big blow. Azam Khan has been convicted in the hate speech case. In a short while the MP MLA court of Rampur will give its verdict on the punishment. This case is related to an inflammatory speech given during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, in which Azam Khan, while addressing a public meeting, said inflammatory things against CM Yogi and the then DM of Rampur and other officials.

At present, Azam Khan is in police custody in the court and is waiting to know how much punishment the court will give him. Azam Khan was booked under crime number 0130 section 171 – G , 505 (1) (b) and 125 of the Representation of the People Act at Shehzad Nagar police station in Rampur during the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign. According to legal experts, Azam Khan can be sentenced to a maximum of three years in these sections. Even before this, Azam Khan was sentenced to three years in another hate speech case, but later he was acquitted by the court in that case.

Apart from this, Azam has been sentenced for 2 years by the Special MP MLA Court of Moradabad. Even if Azam Khan gets maximum punishment in this case today, he will get bail from the court and he can avoid going to jail for the time being, but now we are waiting for how much punishment will be given to Azam Khan. Meanwhile, BJP MLA from Rampur Akash Saxena has also reached the court and expressing happiness over the conviction of Azam Khan, has called it a victory of justice.
